Who is this retreat for?
The Midwest Physician Writers Retreat for physicians and medical trainees from any institution who have an interest in creative writing including creative nonfiction, fiction, and poetry. Because this is our first year, we are focusing on physicians and medical trainees, but we hope to include all health professions in the coming years.
What if I’m not a good writer or don’t write often?
This retreat is for any physicians or medical trainees who are interested in writing! All experience and skill levels are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Is there funding to help students pay for the conference?
Yes! Through generous funding through the Paster Family Foundation, students can attend the conference for free. If you are interested, please submit the application form.
I am not able to travel to Madison. Can I attend virtually?
Because one of our goals is to build community among attendees, we are not offering a virtual option at this time. If there is significant interest, we would certainly consider adding this in future years.
Will CME be available?
Yes! The event has been approved for 3 AMA Category 1 CME credits.
Will there be childcare?
Because we are a new conference, we are not able to coordinate childcare for participants this year. That said, Madison is a fantastic place to visit with kids! See our Plan Your Visit page for ideas. The Pyle Center has a lactation room available on request.
